Website privacy notice

Last updated: 3 October 2026

The short version: this notice is about biojrnl.com, the website. The Biojrnl app has its own privacy policy, and nothing from the app is ever sent to advertisers. On the website there is one thing to know: if you arrive from one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram and tap a button to start your free month, our server tells Meta that the tap happened, so Meta can show our ads to people likely to try Biojrnl.

1. Who we are

Biojrnl Ltd, company no. 17290325, registered in England and Wales, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. We are the controller for the website. Contact: [email protected].

2. What the website records itself

The site runs its own counting script: which pages are opened, what is tapped, how far a page is scrolled, and roughly where in the world a visit comes from. It sets no cookies, keeps no IP address and records nothing you type. Visit records are kept for 60 days, then deleted. The full description is in section 3 of the privacy policy, under Website visits.

3. What we tell Meta, and when

Only when both of these are true: you reached the site through one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram (the link then carries a click ID that Meta adds itself), and you tap a button to start your free month. Then our server sends Meta:

  • that a tap happened, when, and on which page;
  • which button it was: iPhone or Android;
  • Meta’s own click ID from the ad link;
  • your IP address and your browser’s description of itself, which Meta uses to match the tap to the ad.

We never send anything you type, anything about your health, or anything from the app. No Meta code runs on our pages, no cookie is set, and nothing extra is stored on your device for it. We do not keep a copy of what is sent. We do not report visitors whose connection is located in Washington, Nevada or Connecticut, whatever they tap.

4. Why

To measure which of our ads lead to someone trying Biojrnl, so we spend less on ads that do not. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in measuring our own advertising. We kept it to the smallest set of facts that makes the measurement work, and only for people who came from our ads.

5. What Meta does with it

Meta Platforms Ireland receives it under Meta’s Business Tools Terms and uses it to report on and deliver our ads. Meta may transfer data to the United States under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension. How Meta handles data is set out in Meta’s privacy policy.

6. Your choices

  • Open biojrnl.com directly, rather than through an ad, and nothing is sent.
  • In Facebook or Instagram, Accounts Centre › Ad preferences lets you limit how Meta uses activity from other businesses.
  • You can object at any time, or ask anything about this, at [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

7. Changes

If what the website sends changes, we will update this page and its date first.
